Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:12-13 - For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Christians are able to be accountable to God through the means of His Word!
The Word of God is: 1. Alive & Active: fresh, powerful, “energes”=working a. God’s word changes our lives by teaching us the who, what, when, where, why of life! b. God’s word gives us more than information, it gives us motivation and power 2. Sharper than anything else in the world! a. Penetrating b. Judging c. Seeing * It is the preeminent word in our lives, Final word!!! * It is the prioritized word! * It pierces our conscience! 3. Means of God’s Accounting: Causes us to be brought right with God a. Line your life up with what God has shown you to be right according to His word. b. Make a commitment to treasure the word of God and follow it over the whim and traditions of men. SO WHAT?

A. Because he is superior, dedication to His word is vital! B. Give attention to Jesus’ word: “bring it near” C. Don’t let it slip by: “catch hold before it is too late” 2. Disregard for the message brings danger! Verses 2-3a A. Jesus’ message is more binding than the authoritative message of angels. B. Disregard = disobedience!C.Disobedience brings just reward! 1) Disregard for the message of salvation = eternally lost in torment, 2) Disregard for the message of sanctification = eternal loss of intended reward, 1Cr 3:14-15 a) Transgression of the Law b) Refusal to “hear” God’s word 3. God gives us spiritual anchors: verses 3b-4 A. Personal faith in the salvation message of Jesus! Hebrews 6:18-19 B. Personal relationship and familiarity with other believer’s testimonies! C. Powerful validating testimony of God: signs, wonders, works of power! D. Personal manifestation of the Holy Spirit distributed according to God’s will! SO WHAT?

Rules with justice: Power accompanies the dispensation if righteousness (symbolized by the scepter) C. Rejoices over his companions: due to the anointing associated with loving righteousness and hating wickedness So what about angels?
